Eat SATVIK and be alive, alert & active!

We eat so we can get ENERGY, NOURISHMENT & LIFE.
But our experience after eating is Lethargy, Tiredness, Laziness!
Why????????
Are we eating right?

Food has 3 basic qualities (Tri-Gunas) in foods - RajasActivity, Tamas – Inertia & SatvaEssence/Purity

Rajasik food destroys the mind-body equilibrium. It stimulates the nervous energy; excites passions; creates sensuality, sexuality, greed, jealousy, anger, delusion, conceit, fantasies, egotism and irreligious feelings.
Fast Food i.e. eating in a hurry is also considered Rajasik

Tamasik food benefits neither the mind nor the body. It consumes a large amount of energy while being digested. Our Prana (life force), or energy is withdrawn; powers of reasoning become clouded; sense of inertia sets in. This destroys Body's resistance to disease. Fills mind with dark emotions, such as anger and greed. It increases pessimism, ignorance, lack of common sense, greed, laziness, irreligion, criminal tendencies, and doubt. It creates a severe inferiority complex and antagonistic feelings. Overeating is also regarded as Tamasik

SATVIK food is the Purest diet - suitable for any studies including yoga. It nourishes the body mind and soul maintaining a calm, peaceful state. It purifies the mind & Balances body chemistry with higher states of consciousness. This leads to true health: a peaceful mind in control of a fit body, with a balanced flow of energy between them. It promotes mental clarity, Emotional serenity, sensual balance & Aids in the coordinated functioning of the body, mind, heart, senses and spirit.

Welcome to SATVIK Seva Kitchen

Eating / cooking can be a meditative experience.
Food can bind people together; create healthy & wealthy societies.
Food can be positive or negative in energy.

The quality of food depends not only on the ingredients but also on the consciousness with which it is prepared.
Food offered with expectation of money has Tamas (greed, anger) built in it.
But food offered as Seva (humble offering) naturally becomes SATVIK.
Precisely why traditionally in the ancient Vedic culture selling and buying food was considered as a sin.
Food was only offered and received as a Prasad – GOD’s gift.
Hence it balanced energy & supported the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual health of every living being in society!
“SATVIK SEVA KITCHEN” brings this tradition back. Here the food is prepared with fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, sprouts & all positive energy (PRANIC) ingredients.
It is prepared in a happy joyful atmosphere and by sevaks (volunteers) who want to offer their love & joy through the food.
“SATVIK SEVA KITCHEN” is a community kitchen run by the Siddha Samadhi Yoga (SSY) meditators for supporting the yoga and spiritual well being of the members.
At "SATVIK SEVA KITCHEN" you eat food in a happy atmosphere while listening to spiritual music and in company of other joyful people.
You can become a joyful member volunteer of "SATVIK SEVA KITCHEN".

Organic, locally grown, seasonal produce now available at Satvik Seva Kitchen

Dear friends,

We are very happy to announce that we are starting a special service for our sadhaks in Orange County.

We have now joined hands with the CSA California – organization working in the area of the Community Sustainable Agriculture. Under a weekly support program you can now order your weekly supply of locally produced seasonal fruits & vegetables grown organically on the CSA California website and receive your delivery at the Peace Home on every Friday evening between 4 to 7 PM. Produce will be delivered by the farmers directly at Peace Home.

For starting this service we need about 15 to 20 enthusiastic shoppers. So if you wish to participate in this program and enjoy a healthy supply of chemically clean, fresh, seasonal fruits & vegetable then please RSVP to this email.

Please note there will be no money transaction at our end, you will be directly ordering the produce online with www.csacalifornia.org

Please read the following email for details on how this service works. Feel free to ask for any questions.

CSA California is a grassroots organization that works with local, organic farms to provide weekly boxes of fruits and vegetables for sale at pick up locations all over Los Angeles County.  With each bag sold, $2 is donated to gardening and biodynamic farming projects at local schools, community centers, and churches.  The majority of CSA California's pick up locations are at schools where children view firsthand organic vegetables and learn to be connected to the source of their food.

~When you sign up your subscription will be recurring, you can cancel or skip at anytime as long as you do so 3 days in advance.

~The basic size mixed fruit and veggie box is $25, larger sizes are $35 and $45.

~You will get a variety each week based on what's in season!

~You can subscribe every week or every other week.

~Bring a reusable bag or box at pick up. We set up with a table and a volunteer will put together your bag with the items that come with it that week. The children love to see the gorgeous fruits and veggies after school!

~For more information on how it works visit the how it works page, https://csacalifornia.org/hiw.html

~We hope you will sign up now and spread the word! We need a group to support this effort, we start locations with 30-40 people.
